ACMS NORDIC SCHEDULE for 2008-2009:

WELCOME TO ACMS NORDIC 2008-2009!!!
This Page Updated on Tue, Jan 29, 2008 at 8:37:12 PM .

Welcome to the 2008-2009 Alder Creek Middle School Nordic Team Schedule Page. Please check this site often for important announcements, last minute updates, and more! Tahoe Donner Passes will be ready in Mid-November. Please wait until then to pick them up!

Dress appropriately for the weather! Be on Time! Please make sure your ride is there to pick you up by 4:30 pm on practice days at Tahoe Donner! PLEASE DRESS FOR PRACTICE AT SCHOOL - NOT AT TAHOE DONNER. Keep the TDXC Bathrooms clear of ACMS athletes.

In case of REALLY bad weather, please check this site for an update on whether we are practicing that afternoon. We don't cancel practices unless the weather is very serious, however, so plan on coming unless you hear otherwise.

SNOW DAY POLICY: If school is canceled because of a SNOW DAY, there will be no official practice (or race) that day. (But if the skiing is good, come on up and ski anyway!)

NOTES:

Practice Time:

  • Practice begins officially at our 3 pm meeting, and ends officially at 4:30 pm; we’re usually back to the barn between 4:15 pm and 4:30 pm.
  • If athletes get to practice early, they’re welcome to grab their skis and zoom around the meadow a bit, but they are responsible for getting back to our meeting location by 3 pm sharp.
  • Parents need to be there no later than 4:30 pm to pick up athletes. It is a real hardship on both the Ski Center and the coaches when athletes are there much later than 4:30. We make every attempt to be done by 4:30, although occasionally conditions warrant being there a little later. Parents: PLEASE help us out with this.

Ski Center Etiquette:

  • We are at Tahoe Donner XC via the good gracious of the management there. As such, with such a large team (along with the not-so-small high school team), we need to be REALLY conscious of the IMPACT we have on the Ski Center.
  • We realize that it’s nice to finish with a little hot chocolate and a snack, but we CAN’T expect TDXC to accommodate 50+ athletes all at one time on a normal business day. It is BEST if, when done with skiing, athletes are picked up and taken home to finish their all-important jobs of homework and housecleaning and room-cleaning and cooking dinner for their family. Please try to help out in this respect.
  • Bags and Packs: ALL PERSONAL ITEMS (Bags, packs, clothing, etc.) need to be stored in our barn area just past the ski lockers. Not upstairs at TDXC. Not in the bathrooms. Not in the public locker area.
Clothing:
  • It’s often CHILLY out there. Don’t forget simple things like GLOVES and a HAT. Those two items will make your lives so much more comfortable.

Parent Help:

  • As usual, this team is too big for 2-3 coaches to handle on their own. Parent help is crucial, even if it is to just “bring up the rear” and make sure no one is left behind. Sometimes, we have specific technique goals for the day. Sometimes, it’s just best to get some ski time in, and that’s where parents are critical. Thanks for helping out.
